Double Luck

A couple of weeks ago I got double lucky in one week.  First I won a giveaway on Jenny's blog from Everyday is a Holiday.  It was a swag bag from the Creative Connection event in Minnesota.  It arrived this week and was worth the wait.

A couple of tote bags and magazines.

And a whole bunch of crafting stuff... scissors, paintbrushes, glitter, embellishments, paper, jewelery makings, cards, journals and lots of other fun items. It really was an amazing assortment of goodies.

A couple of days after winning this giveaway, I won a givewaway on Crystal's blog, Vintage by Crystal.  With this giveaway, I won a dress from the Shabby Apple website.

The dress is really cute on and fits well. I had no one home to take my picture if I tried it on...and did not feel like doing one of those photo shoots of myself in a mirror. 

I love, love  the color and all the ruffles around the neck. It has a bright purple zipper down the back. It is a little different than I would usually wear, but I was thrilled with how it fit and makes me look so young and hip!

Thank you Jenny, Aaron and Crystal...what a doubly good week that was!

Giveaway...Drum Roll Please

I did not mean to do this post so late this evening. I have had one of those days of scrambling about. Estate sales, lunch with my mom, post office, haircut and two trips to the local antique mall.

I decided I had to pick a name in true Easter fashion.  I printed all the comments out and cut them up into strips.  I added a second chance for my google followers.

I got out my stash of plastic Easter eggs and put one comment in each egg. I had alot of eggs to fill..thanks to everyone that entered!

And the winner is LISA W! No blog, just a long-time commenter and blogland friend! Her favorite candy was one that was no longer made - a Fannie Farmer dark chocolate butter-cream egg.  I offered to hunt one down in estate sale land (since people save everything), but after all these years am sure the quality of that treat would be compromised.  Peeps were her second choice.

I also found it interesting that so many people that loved Peeps mentioned that they let them get stale before eating them!

Congrats Lisa.  I will drop you a note to get your address. Thanks to all who entered and to all my blogland friends.

Easter Etsy and A Giveaway

My stash of vintage chicks is all used up.  These are the last of them headed to Etsy on Monday, April 4th at 5:30 p.m. (pacific time).

A few spun heads and other goodies will be tagging along to Etsy as well.

On another note, in the world of Magpie Ethel I have been very blessed.  I have done over 600 blog posts and made lots of wonderful friends. My Etsy shop has done very well as well. Life is good.

It is time to have a little Easter themed giveaway. A pastel colored world of Easter fun will be headed your way.  Handcrafted goodies and some vintage ones as well.

Reminder and the Pancake Story

If you have read my blog for awhile you will remember the pancake story.  If you are a newer reader here is the pancake story from my 100th post giveaway. (Sept 16, 2008).

A true life story honoring the number 100!

When I was in kindergarten we lived in a teeny tiny town in Washington called Montesano.  I used to walk a couple of miles to school each day. We were busy learning our numbers and our teacher had assigned us to bring in 100 of something.  I have always liked the quirky and oddball...so I brought in 100 pancakes!

 

My mom and I made them together...they looked so fun all stacked up tidy on a cookie sheet.  I was so proud of my 100 pancakes!  No one else had 100 pancakes, only me!  My classmates were impressed by the teetering stacks!  As I strolled home that afternoon giddy with the success of my day I ate cold pancakes.  One after another, happy as a five year old can be! (I did not eat them all either!)

This was my child hood story that I tied into for the 100th giveaway.  I love this little memory, but did not want to make 400 pancakes for a photo for my 400th post!  Good luck if you entered the giveaway...I'll be posting the winner tomorrow.
