We always go out to one of the local Christmas tree farms and cut down our tree. It is a family tradition, but this year due to crazy schedules (namely mine) my husband and I went out solo. It was a beautiful crisp clear winter day...the sky was an amazing blue.
We chose a 9 foot Noble Fir. It smells wonderful. We had it machine shaken and bundled up with twine for the ride home on top or our car. After we got home and got it set up in our living room, we found a surprise. Nestled against the trunk of the tree my husband pulled out this amazing abandoned bird nest. What a unexpected surprise!
No, the old ornaments weren't in the nest when we found it....that would have been a true magpie!
I love the ornaments in the nest-super cute idea!

Pretty tree Laurie, and what a treat to find a little bird's nest too!! I like bird nests, we find a lot of them that fall out of the trees in dad's orchards.

I think it's good luck to find a nest in a Christmas tree - I should look that up. In the meantime, we'll just say that it is!
