For Christmas this year I bought Tom and the kids a nice new t.v. Of course the old cabinet didn't work with the new larger t.v., so I have been on the hunt for a new one. This is the old one...lovely huh?
It was a nice enough cabinet, but we bought it at our old house 12 years ago and it really never worked well in our current family room since it was so large. I was also over the oak furniture look...way over it.
I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a new one. I wanted painted wood and kind of a cottage look with lots of storage. I had looked at tons of new pieces, but they didn't fit the ticket. I couldn't find anything at the local antique stores. Then I happened upon an antique/gift store that was closing and found the absolute perfect piece!
Kind of a shabby blue/green/white color. Great green glass knobs came with the piece and it had three drawers to store DVDs and games. Plus two doors on either side that have shelves inside...more storage! It also had an open shelf that just fit our DVD player and cable box. Bingo, it was meant to be!
This is a close up of the chippy paint on top - it is the perfect color scheme to fit in with my family room. And I love the knobs! Oh happy day, the search has ended!
Great find on the cabinet! Re: the pencil sharpener...are you telling me you DON'T travel with a screwdriver at all times? For shame Ethel!

Hi Laurie, what a fun find! It's been awhile since you've blogged. For me 3 days isn't long but you are such a good blogger. Hope everything is going well for you.
