Last week a friend called me while she was shopping at the Salvation Army. She had in her hands four little bags of vintage spun doll heads and wanted to know if she should pick them up for me.
This is what she bought. Clearly labeled Bric-a-brac...99 cents. Yippee!
48 spun heads with gold glitter hair! I love the fact they were labeled bric-a-brac. That is such a fun old fashioned word...say it ten times fast! Bric-a-brac,bric-a-brac,bric-a-brac. It just clatters off you tongue. According to the dictionary it means: misc small articles, collected for their antiquarian, decorative, or other interest. I am definitely a bric-a-brac collector.
The little bric-a-brac heads joined these friends..destined for new life in one of my little creations.
These are some of my favorite heads..they have the cutest expressions.
I think I will make myself a little sign for my studio, it will read.
Magpie Ethel, Queen of Bric-a-Brac!
I think it is quite fitting!
Also had a nice mention on Today's Creative Blog, regarding Valentine's Decorations. Thanks so much Kim...have a wonderful sparkly heart day!
Magpie Missy, I just LOVE spending time at your blog. Such fun little collections of this and that. Right up my alley!

Bric a brac is a word that they only use at the Salvation Army. I've never really heard it used anywhere but there for some reason. I just bought six little heads on etsy, so I am incredibly jealous of your jars of heads!!!!!!!

Look at all those wonderful heads! I picked up two with the orange hair that I see in that jar last week. Just two, but it's a start. LOL

I had to get a towel to wipe the DROOL off my keyboard! What a great friend and find. I have a few of these, but nothing that comes close to you collection.
I'm sure it was just what you needed after last week's dentist ordeal.
