Photo is not of my mother (I don't have a vintage one of her hanging about - this woman was in my photo collection and she looks like she would be a friendly mom). Corsage is an old corsage that I tweaked a bit.

At last weeks estate sale I picked up a duck with the other items I bought. A simple, sweet innocent yellow duck for $1.50.
When I got him home he quacked at me, "I need a friend." It then dawned on me that I did have a few friends for this duck scattered about my house and yard.
It seems innocent enough to buy the duck. I often don't actively collect something...all of a sudden I realize I have alot on something and I have ANOTHER COLLECTION, just like that!
This time it is a collection of ducks that has waddled into a newly planted container of geraniums.
QUACK, QUACK, QUACK said the duck...find me more friends!

I can't believe it is the 200th post.
I have so enjoyed doing my blog....meeting new people and sharing things that are near and dear to me. In celebration it is time for a give away. I have gathered some goodies destined for that lucky someone....
An old black and rose covered apron (left corner), a floral glove box full of fun stuff like rick-rack and old ornaments. A couple of my hand dyed bottlebrush Christmas trees in those fun colors. A tussie mussie made with an old cardboard thread spool, covered in vintage wrapping paper and then embellished with old millinery. The book "French General Home Sewn" - it has great projects and includes pattern sheets. (I have two copies - perfect to share one.) And last but not least, a small vintage party hat to help with the celebration.
And I had to include a special spun head gal. This one is holding an old red doll clothespin and is sporting a polka dot skirt.

Recently a friend of mine, Mitzi, was over and commented on my coffin table that I have in my front window. Alot of people ask about it when they come over so I decided to do a post about my unusual table.
I got the coffin stand/table about 10 years ago at a local antique show. I was told it was used to hold coffins - oh, so long ago. (and no, that doesn't seem morbid to me...after all I am addicted to estate sales!) It came with the wooden top and I have had it in my front window for years. I put my seasonal displays on it or a big bucket of handmade flowers (estate sale find - top photo). It has (I believe) the original rubber wheels to roll it around with.
The base is really heavy and it very ornate with all the fancy curlicues and such.
It is stamped with this verbiage: Pat Nov 22, 1898. Mfg. of the Springfield Silver-plate Co. No 101. Springfield.
Another cool thing about this table is that it folds up easily to store. This is where my Christmas tree goes during the holidays, so the table is easy to move.
I really like this table. Definitely not something you would pick up at Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn. A great addition to my home. (wish the pictures could have been a bit brighter...a REALLY rainy day here in Oregon)
Today I hit one estate sale. I signed up on the list early yesterday evening and was number 46 to get in today. I didn't have to wait long and was rewarded for my efforts!
Not a bad assortment. I got a big bag of misc. Christmas which had alot of corsage making supplies, ornaments, elves etc. A nice chippy turquoise bowl, some old tin toy spinners (great graphics), playing cards, bells, reindeer and a yellow pottery duck.

I love the old celluloid reindeer (I got two tiny ones and one larger). A old spun cotton snowman. He is one of those package tie-ons and has a great oversize glittery cone hat.
I am usually not a sucker for old dolls. This one was on the table as I was waiting to check out, I picked her up and put her down about 10 times. Finally she made her way into my basket. She was only $2.50. Her dress is pretty ratty, but I have a bunch of old doll clothes that my grandmother made tucked away. I think I will see if she can wear one of those outfits.
She has been well loved.
