I have never been to Las Vegas or a casino. Poker, slot machines and the like all hold little interest for me. However show me a $2 box at an estate sale and I'm in!!!
I found this box marked $2 today. It looked promising and I didn't want to take the time to go thru it to see if it held worthwhile goods...I was ready to take the chance and gamble for some good stuff...estate sale style.
I love wondering if I will uncover that amazing treasure! I didn't score anything too outstanding in this box - but it was worth the $2 price tag.
Christmas balls with a couple of great figural ones and a tree topper tucked in. (I know this will leave you wondering how I could possibly need more balls - but I do)
Cardboard "Made in Japan" houses, a couple of deer, a box of tiny ornaments and some of my beloved ribbon spools.
Birds and sugar coated bells.
And of course you must be curious if the box had anything less than desirable - which of course it did. This is what did not make the cut and will go to goodwill.
Looks like the gamble paid off! I'd be very happy indeed if I came away with that many goodies from the box! I'm hoping the sales are going to be better this week. Last week was a dud!

I'd be sending the same cut to GW too.
I'm looking forward to the Rt. 11 Yard Crawl through Northern VA in a couple of weeks - already have the hotel scoped out.
Have a great evening.

You're not getting rid of those lovely satin balls, are you? (No, I don't want them either!)I never question the need for more Christmas ornaments.

Once again you amaze me with your finds! Listen, I read the BEST book about a girl who goes to estate sales for a "living" as a picker for another seller. It's a mystery but the whole time she talked about old Bakelite items and her "trash" it made me think of you. I want to mail it to you if you'd like to read it, then you can pass it along to a friend, or save it to read again and again! hee hee
Email me your mailing address and I'll get it out to you tomorrow!
Have a wonderful Friday!

That $2 was definitely worth it. Of course if my mom sees that you are giving those satin balls to Goodwill she is going to have a fit. She loves those.
Hope you have a great weekend. Sorry that I have not been around too much- crazy week again. I love all your summer decorating!

I love your blog and come away fully inspired.

I also donate my leftovers to the local Goodwill but I always feel a little sorry for the figural that is left alone in the box. That is why I have a basket of little guys too ugly to use...maybe someday I will have the nerve to cut the cord. Penny
