I like to head into Macy's occasionally to check out their Martha Stewart stuff. The other day they had 40% of their clearance section. I scored a Martha Stewart turquoise cake plate for $7.64 (regularly $19.00). I also could not pass up these turquoise polka dot plates for $2.03 each. (regularly $17.00 each - not Martha tho).
Love the colors and they inspired this little table setting for dinner tonight in the backyard.
I used my collection of patterned flatware.
I made a quick trip to the U-cut dahlia field for my 25 cent per stem dahlias.
I used some floral vintage cloth napkins and some plain pink place mats. There are quite a few patterns going on - floral, polka dot, stripes, checks - but they are all in the same colors so they work, plus the patterns aren't ultra-fussy.
I couldn't pass by the orange frosted cookies. I love how they look on the turquoise cake plate.
Now I just need to go make a summer dinner...just as yummy as this table.
For those of you who have questions about where I got my flatware.I have collected it for a few years and stow it all away in a certain drawer. I pick it up at Target, TJ Maxx etc. I usually find it during the summer months. I just got some the other day on clearance at Pottery Barn. I like the array of patterns,...I just try to stay within the same color groups so they work together.
p.s. Gail that left a comment about seeing me at Seaside - your email keeps bouncing back to me. Drop me a another line so we can compare shopping notes!
Hi Laurie, Everything looks devine, I can hear you ringing the bell now & yelling "Dinner Time" - I'll be there in a flash...LOL..love the colors...just a darhling little table setting...have a honey of a day! Marlene

Oh my, we ARE on the same wavelength! That's such a pretty table you set! Love that pennant too. It all just screams SUMMER!! I remember you showed your colorful flatware before, but I can't remember where you got it all. Did you pick it up a piece at a time? That's it. I'm making my family eat outside this weekend!

I need to make a Macy's run. I have a green kitchen set from the 1950's and I love to use turquoise and pink to set the table.
Have fun.

Hi Laurie, I have not been by to visit you in a couple of weeks. Darn lake keeps calling my name! Hope you survived the heat wave! Your Martha Stewart find is beautiful and your table setting even better. Have a wonderful rest of your summer. P.S. my elf is still sitting out, feeling very superior to the other elves who are all hibernating until the holidays!
