Yesterday, I passed a vintage store that I usually don't pay much attention to. There on the front porch was a huge box for a light up Santa head. I zipped around the corner and went to take a closer look at Santa. There was a head in the box and it was big. I didn't have one like him. He worked and he was adorable. I HAD to have him.
Home safe in the Subaru....look how much room he took up in the trunk.
I am in love with his rosy cheeks and nose. Santa is just shy of 3 foot tall.
If you have read my blog for awhile, you may remember I have a kitschy obsession with light up Santas. I have not found any new ones this year...I don't want any more duplicates and that is all i have been finding. My Santa luck has changed.
My front porch last year.
I think I will try and have him hang under the upper window on the left above the Christmas tree.
Thrilled to add his holiday glow to my collection!
Hope your day is full of a delightful surprise...ho, ho, ho!
Hi, Laurie!
I haven't commented in a while, but just HAD to say congrats on the GREAT FIND! WOW!
Also, don't know why, but a couple of posts back I thought of Scrooge McDuck when I saw all of the yummy vintage Christmas ornaments. Now if we could just get a big vault to put them in -- filled to the brim -- and then just dive in and swim thru .... MMM .... heaven!
Hugs from a fellow addict ... but I bow to the QUEEN!
Betty :)

I'm glad you found another one to add to your collection! He looks alot like the big one we have. He takes up alot of room in the shed, and my husband always struggles to get him hung up, but he sure does make me smile when I see him all lit up!

Whew!! And just in time - I'd hate for you to go one year without finding a light up Santa - and you found a great one. I don't live where anyone can see lights and I think I would have brought it home.
I do have white sparking lights around my porch that I leave up all year long - they can either be luau lights or Christmas lights depending on the season. They put out more light than you would imagine and I have them on at night when I go out to walk my dogs.

I think he was calling your name from the porch. He knew where he belonged. I am glad he made his way home.
What a happy day!

He's enormous! (I'm gauging from the width of the Subaru hatch.) I think having a big enough collection that you only add to it on special occasions is the best fun of all. It actually feels good to pass on the occasional Gurley candle. (But not very often. Only in very specific circumstances. Maybe hardly ever. I'm already thinking I shouldn't have passed on the $5 pair of turkey candles at the antique mall last week.)

Saw a santa at an auction last night that made me think of you... it was about 12 inches tall, very cute, and squeeked when you would give it a squeeze. Too cute... there was also a Pillsburry dough boy and a Frisch's Big Boy. All so very cute.
Your stuff from the monkey box swap looks so fun.
Love the paper lanterns... too cute!
