Smiling From Ear to Ear - Belated Estate Sale Friday and Fun Stuff

Lately, I have been in a very good mood.  Here are four reasons why.

#1 Estate Sale Friday

My friend Paula called me Thursday and told me she had signed me up for a sale on Friday and I was #15 on the list.  At that point in time I really needed a pick me up like that and it was the perfect way to get me in a GOOD mood.  Paula, you are a gem.

And here are my goodies - not an amazing sale...but a few fun things.

An old hooked rug for my front door, a squirrel bookend (for a squirrel collecting friend), some old glass slides for soldering and a big box of old paper items.  The box of paper items was $1.50 and contains an assortment of old greeting cards, photos, items from OSU and seem to be a small representation of things a fellow collected from his OSU college years in 1941.  I had fun digging thru this box.

#2 My haul from a local antique mall that just hosted a Christmas event. My mom and I went to check it out and I got an assortment of happy things.  My favorite are the curtain tiebacks (bottom of photo).

#3 A goody bag my friend Amy passed off to me after the craft show we did last week.  Total happiness...she knows what I like!

#4 The teeny tiniest spun heads about the size of a good sized pea.

And that is why I am smiling.

Crazy Weather Forecast

I just watched the evening news and we are due for a PINK SNOWSTORM.  Yes, Pink.

Well...in actuality a pink snowstorm in the studio.  I just discovered pink mica snow and it has inspired a stormy wave of pink crafting.

This snowstorm will be hitting Etsy on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.(pacific time) along with some other pink goodies!  Grab that snow-shovel and be ready for some pink fun! 

The Show

I had people ask me to post pictures of my sale yesterday.  It was a very good day for me.  Really stormy outside so crowds of shoppers all day long.  I got to visit with my friend Amy from Into Vintage who had a booth there - adorable things made from vintage fabric - love her stuff and an Etsy shop to boot.  I also had a blog reader - Ariana stop by and drop off some spun Santa heads she had found.  Hallelujah...thanks again!

The rest of this post will be of few words and mostly photos.  Playing catch-up today.

Overview of my table (please ignore the posters in the background - the sale was held in a school cafeteria)  I pretty much jam pack inventory in.  It is one sparkly and glittery table.

I also always dress the part for my sales.  I either where a garland necklace or a corsage from my collection.  This sale I wore a corsage and added an "Ethel" pin that I found at an estate sale earlier this year.

The thing I like about doing the shows is watching people come to my booth and just start to smile.  It was a happy space and a happy day!


 

Two Thumbs Up

I had to take a break from crafting and pricing this week as I get ready for my upcoming show.  I knew some vendors at the local antique malls were starting to put out Christmas and I just HAD to make a quick trip...a little time for me.

I found another Santa to add to my front porch collection!  Look...he is giving me the thumbs up to buy him!

The best thing about him is when you plug him in, he not only lights up but he also rocks back and forth from the waist!

Two thumbs up and cute to boot! (he stands about 4 foot tall)

I also scored on some vintage spun Santa heads and some vintage ribbon printed with "Seasons Greetings".

Ho, ho,ho...it was a very good day.  I'd give it two thumbs up..Santa style.

Stop and Smell the Flowers

I have a very crazy week this week getting ready for my sale this Saturday.  A dahlia in my backyard decided to FINALLY bloom just before Halloween (it had not bloomed all summer).

It is a huge dahlia, about the size of my hand and a gorgeous salmon color.  I pass it as I scurry back to my studio...it reminds me to slow down and take a deep breath and do something special for myself and not just work, work, work.  I need that this week.

Take the time to do something special for yourself this week....slow down and smell the flowers.

Ready or Not

My Halloween decorations are down and put neatly in their bins until next year.

I am ready to say goodbye to the black and orange.  

However, when the month of November kicks in so do my holiday sales. My living room went from spooky to full of inventory for my upcoming shows.

 
I need to be able to spread out and divide my inventory up between the shows I will be doing.

Bells, angels, bottle brush trees, candy canes and tiny cloches...my living room is full of glittery fun.

Tussie mussies made from vintage thread spools and covered with vintage wrapping paper and holiday doo-dads.

 

Holiday houses and sequin trees.

A herd of colorful reindeer.

Gift tags and wreaths.

Time to get busy and tag and price. 

My first show is THIS Saturday at All Saints Church. (3847 NE Glisan, 9-5).

 

It is the 54th year of the bazaar and my third year of participating. It has a great vintage treasure booth, super talented vendors, baked goods and a yummy cafe   It you live in the Portland area, come by and say hello and get a start on your Christmas shopping!
