It has been a very good weekend for me in estate sale land. I hit two sales today and found lots of goodies...Day 2.
Vintage tissue paper in original packaging, a good quantity of prize ribbons, thread covered Easter eggs (been hunting these for awhile), playing cards, cardboard ribbon spools and boxes of corsage pins.
Old glitter, a vintage Baby Ruth candy bar box, Christmas, fabric (3 yards of a great pink and gray pattern), 3 bags of feathers, old greeting cards and old gift tags.
A couple of old tins that I will use for storage in the studio. They were in the workshop and full of nails when I bought them.
My favorite find were two calendars from 1955 and 1957. They are from a local dairy, Alpenrose and feature this little elf called "Tiny Tawker". He "promotes the habits of health and safety and to assist in developing good character in youngsters". He is just about the cutest elf I have ever seen.
It is illustrated by a Andrew Loomis and has little poems like this one to accompany the illustrations.
The market's like a fairyland, of things we like so much. But it's really very hard to learn that we really mustn't touch."
Was happy to call it a "ditto jackpot" day!
The calendars are wonderful! Would love to see the illustration for July 1955-my birthday. Glad you had a profitable weekend.

So much fun!!! I scored at our Community Yard Sale yesterday too! Mostly stuff for the kids, but I got myself a vintage Alpine Village set! I think I'll blog about it too!
It's funny, a year ago, I would have looked at it and thought "Oh, those tacky 70s!" Now I look at it as nostalgic and just plain fun!!
Love all your goodies!

Looks like the estate sales were a fairyland of things YOU like so much! You must have been smiling from ear to ear, girlie! I did pretty good at the citywide garage sales and the flea market today, even though I got in a little fight over one thing. You can read all about it tomorrow!

I have a Tiny Tawker poster (Tiny Tawker says: Take Home a Quart of Tri-City Dairies "Grade A" Milk.) printed out of Mpls. so Tiny Tawker must have been popular throughout the US (I'm in IL). I also have two of the kiddie chairs like you just got. Can't tell if yours still has the sticker on it but mine are branded as Jack and Jill chairs. I wish I still lived in Portland, I can't believe the stuff you haul home!

I thought about you yesterday! I was at Vicki's sale at 9:15 and the things I saw that you would have liked. I hope you made it to her sale. Times like that I need your phone # so I can say, "Laurie get over here!!!" It looks like you did pretty good though!

Woo-hoo! At first I thought you said you found a vintage Baby Ruth candy bar (missed the word "box") and I was worried.

It's fascinating to see the types of things you buy - you must have so many ideas swirling around that involve all these little treasures. Way to go, Jackpot Ethel! -amy

O.M.G. I've been scouring Ebay for prize ribbons but they are a fortune! Ever feel like selling or trading, hollar at me!
Oh, and I have really cute paper coasters that match the "Let's have another Cup of Coffee" napkins you found. If you'd like them, I'll send them your way. No clue what i would do with them! :) Let me know and I'll drop them in the mail. I have a LOT of stamps. ;)
