Today there was a sale down the street from me. There was not a sign up list last night when I checked. At 6:10 this a.m. when I got up I put a jacket on over my pajamas and walked down there to see if a list had appeared. You know you are hooked on sales when you are walking down the street at 6 in the morning in your pajamas! There was a list and I was number 3.
The sale was mediocre. I hit a couple more and was pretty pleased with the bounty for the morning.
A cool red wire basket and an old doll suitcase were some good finds. The suitcase has the original doll size hangers (could have used those on my previous collection challenge post..Dang!). The old tablecloth is a cutter and needs a good soaking.
A pair of horse bookends and three boxes of old Christmas ornaments
An old Snickers candy box and a bunch of smaller Christmas ornaments. A cute little duck Easter card.
I was happy to get this metal file box for Christmas card lists as I collect them (surprise, surprise).
This one was a bit more unusual..when I opened it up there is a little metal Santa that springs up to greet you.
I also got some goodies from a estate sale friend. My favorite was this awesome paper garland. It is pink and white stripe...I absolutely LOVE IT. I have never seen another one like it and it is awesome! It is super thick and is a good long length...made in West Germany. It is so happy and fun it looks like I could just slide down it to a happy land. I think I will hang it in my studio.
Not a bad day...happy Estate Sale Friday!
Such very nice finds but I love the Christmas list box!

Really good finds. People in this part of the country don't keep as many old things. We don't have basements or cellars and not very large attics. Things ruin pretty fast in sheds.
Glad you had fun, good luck tomorrow!!

I'll say! More great things to add to your collections. I think the horse bookends are extra special. Such fun to shop vicariously through you. Elizabeth

So, I open my email and see an unfamiliar return address and the subject says, "getting dirty and loving it". Hmmm, I ask my daughter, should I open it or do you think not? Hmmm, I finally said, I am just too curious...ha! Glad it was from you.
Love the little pop up Santa!

Hi Laurie, I'm glad you found some
"goodies" at the estate sale.
I've never been to an estate sale,
just antique stores and the famous
Brimfield show in Massachusetts.
I was out and about today and
saw a big sign that said:
Estate Sale! I immediately thought,
"Oh, Laurie should be here for this". : )
I was in a rush, so I didn't have
a chance to check it out.
Have a fun weekend.
Hugs,
Janis

Oh great finds there Laurie. That's so funny about you out there in your PJ's.

I thought of you today as I passed an estate sale with long lines of people outside. I thought of you and took an extra look around to see if I could spot you! Then I thought of myself and despite my desire to rummage around someone else's house, I really didn't want to get out and deal with all those people! Guess I don't have the right constitution!!

I'm already thinking that Snickers box is the perfect Halloween orange.

Love the garland! And this will come as no surprise to you...I too have a collection of Christmas card list tins. I love the graphics. I am amazed at how many of the same things we collect.

Love those horse bookends! I love that type of thing - a children's bookend with that kind of graphic.

I love the pop up Santa and the Snickers box. Was it a special Halloween box with maybe specially wrapped candy, do you think? Next time you run out in your jammies to sign up for a sale, maybe you should wear one of your great disguises -- hat, cool glasses etc. Neighbors sitting at their kitchen tables having a cup of jo would have something to talk about all morning. Thanks for being you, Janet
