This it the fourth year that my mom and I have road tripped up to Spokane, Washington for the Farm Chicks show. This year it was sunny. I did not get a speeding ticket. We did not get lost. It was a good weekend.
As I said the sun was out and the line was long.
One of the fun things about this show is that people are here not just for an antique show, but for an event. They wear blogger badges and cowboy/vintage attire. A trio of women in front of us made some great crowns to wear. There is just an undercurrent of excitement and fun.
My mom and I at the show. This is the milk truck that greeted you as you entered..it was a great place for a photo!
One of the things that is so fun about this show, besides the quality of the vendors, it the great props and whimsical eye candy.
Clouds float above the milk truck.
And there was even a special license plate.
This awesome cake was mind boggling. It was created for a soon to open bakery called Cake, that is associated with my all time favorite place to eat in Spokane called Chaps.
It even had a huge industrial beater on top and flowers. Frosting piped around the center added great detail. It was truly a sight to behold...clever, clever!
There was a ton of cool stuff at the show. The bar was set high with what vendors brought to sell. Here are some of my favorites.
Loved the oversize letters and the giant ice cream cone cut-out.
I was in love with this piece of advertising. They had filled the interior of it with straw and vintage books - only in red.
I thought this old coffee grinder was amazing (with a matching amazing price tag). It was about three foot tall and just cool. I seem to really be drawn to the unusual and unpractical.
Most of the display in this booth was made from cardboard. Simple cardboard. Was extremely clever and unusual and easy to transport. (Hutch studio)
My cart was full of goodies and we are ready to head back to the hotel. We hit the show both days.
A truly fun weekend. My next post will be Farm Chicks, The Finds.
Remember the red, white and blue Fourth of July parade is headed to Etsy tonight at 5 p.m. pacific time.
Laurie, I've two minutes to the store opens and wanted to tell you to be sure and check out the blog, Joy's Thoughts and Things, who has also attended the Farm Chicks with her mother from Utah! Quite the drive! She has a home to die for that I think you will enjoy, and ideas galore. Back again to read more carefully, store's opening. Excited! Her I go! E

Your description of being drawn to the "unusual and unpractical" describes me exactly!
I love that coffee grinder. One day I will get to Farm Chicks, it sure looks like fun!

I don't know where to start... I loved seeing photos from this event that I read so much about! Oh, how I wish I could've gone... I love that it's more than just an antique show. It sounds like it has such a great vibe!
Hugs,
Jill

Glad to hear you had nice weather (and no tickets!) Seeing your photos makes me feel a teensy bit better about not going - thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see The Finds. I'm sure they'll be amazing :-) -amy

I can't wait to get to that show. (Some day!) But I don't think I'll wear a crown, if it's all the same to you.

I would love to attend this show too, but I live in Michigan....we have tons of great stuff here, actually, but the dealers just don't have the cutting-edge display ideas the Farm Chicks dealers have, and our shows aren't as event-ish, if you know what I mean!
