I woke up this morning DETERMINED to find some treasures as I ventured out to 6 estate sales. It has been meager pickings lately, and I really hoped to find something that would make me happy.
Lets just say I am happy and my determination paid off.
Basically all I found today was from two sales and the others were duds.
I wish I would have found this food carrier before the Fourth of July.I don't think it has ever been used and has the original label telling how to use it. It features three levels or decks of storage compartments. The first deck is for pies, sandwiches, cookies or hot and cold dishes. Deck two is for big cakes or hot dishes (and the base makes a handy serving tray). Deck three is for fried chicken, roasts or casseroles. This triple decker carrier is a housewife's dream!
I have the hardest time passing Christmas by. I scored on a turquoise glass garland and three boxes of ornaments. I am always on the hunt for these old rubber deer.
I was told these green metal rings are old stovepipe rings. They have not been used and they are that great green color. I need to figure out a project with the two dozen that I bought.
A fun old tree topper. I collect tree toppers but I have never seen a flocked green one...EVER!
An old tin recipe box in chippy red and yellow as well as a tiny green pitcher.
Rolls of old streamers made in West Germany.
I bought a bag of vintage Halloween. It had this ghost blow-mold (about 12 inches tall) and also some paper items. When I got home I went through the bag and was happy, happy with the paper stuff.
The bats have a honeycomb tummy.
The pressed paper decorations are marked Copyright H.E. Luhrs..and while I know these images have been reproduced by the Beistle company, I am pretty sure these are all old.
A favorite find was this old wooden silverware drawer painted turquoise.
I have a bunch of them and store all my vintage glass garland that I use for crafting in the compartments. This is my stash so far...am hoping to have Tom make me some sort of cabinet/stand that I could slide the drawers in and out of.
A few spun heads and an old song book.
Am glad that I woke up determined today...and that it paid off!
I hope some of your determination rubs off on me! It has been pretty slim pickings around here lately too! Looks like you got some great treasures! Happy Weekend!!

Well, that determination paid off! Everything that you found is so wonderful. I love that even your storage solutions are vintage!
Have a wonderful weekend-- I'll be sewing a little somethin' to finish a little somethin'. Yes, I am a tease! (And I know I will never live this fiasco down!)
Hugs,
Jill

Love the bats, those are just so darn cute and different! Can't wait to see where they end up hanging around at!
Looks like you have a great start to the weekend and have been back in the dahlia patch as well :)

Hi Laurie, You find the greatest
things!! I've never seen a flocked
tree topper either! Love it all,
Halloween, Christmas Tree garland
and those fab colored stove pipe
rings. Hmmmmm...wonder what you
will create with them. : )
Have a good weekend. Nasty hot here. :(
Hugs,
Janis

Never heard of stove pipe rings but they sure are pretty...even if you don't turn them into something they would make great frames around another little framed picture.
Hey, I found some spun cotton Christmas angel heads & elves at an Estate sale...at first they wanted $5 for the plastic baggie of them & the old scrabble game and I said, 'no, I guess I don't think I need them' then she said "$2?" "okay!". They are kinda grungy, but still cute...and, there was one little pink cardboard house!

The color on those flue covers re just your color! They would make great frames!
The party streamers are divine.
I need a good junk fix. Your "junk" is so much fun!

Laurie, you are like a magnet for cute things! I've got to spend more time digging at these sales I've been going to....I fear that I'm overlooking some treasures (and we don't want that to happen!)

All great stuff as usual! Love those bats and that food carrier as well. When I saw those green stovepipe rings I immediately thought that they could be decorated to look like Christmas wreaths (vintage vintage doodads attached) - but I'm sure you'll come up with something even better!

As often as many of us are out there yard & estate sale-ing, it's always exciting to come across something you've never seen before. Keeps the hunt fresh! And you are quite the spun head magnet.

H.E. Luhrs was Beistle's son-in-law and a graphic artist. He later became president of Beistle. A lot of Luhrs' designs were produced, I think, in the 1940s and 50s.

OK, if at all possible I need to move to your part of the country! SERIOUSLY! Every single week you put my treasures to shame! This one week is as good as it gets for an entire year by me! I'm just so glad you share all your goodies with us!
