I have had a couple of requests to see if I collected State Souvenirs. I do. I primarily collect only for Oregon (where I live) and this collection lives in my son's room and is part of the theme of his room.
You have to start with a souvenir glass.
A lot of what I have decorated Ben's room with came from our family. This wooden map of Oregon from the Blitz Brewing Company was in my husband's room when he was a kid.
This paper placemat was in with my Grandmother's things after she passed away. It is dated 1954 and is framed and hung in Ben's room.
I live in Portland which is in the center of all those circles. This map has some great graphics.
I posted about my hankies last week. I do have one from Oregon (not in use, tucked away with the rest of my collection)
For awhile I collected souvenir pennants from locations in Oregon. I made them into pillows. These are from The Prehistoric Garden (extinct), Multnomah Falls, Seaside and Depoe Bay.
I found this bandanna featuring a map of Oregon wadded up in with hunting gear at an estate sale locally.
And last but no least my vintage University of Oregon t-shirt. I graduated from the University of Oregon in 1986. Today I am mighty proud to be a duck..altho they were not victorious last night, they did give Auburn a good game in the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. I am not a big sports fan, but the state has been a sea of green and yellow lately...a disappointing game, but still proud of my ducks!
Oregon is an awesome state to visit if you ever get a chance. I highly recommend it.
If you have an idea for a future collection challenge, leave me a note and finish the sentence "Show me your collection of _____. " I will see what I can do.
Oh, one last thing. 4 little fellows want to remind you that Valentine goodies are arriving on Etsy tonight, January 11th at 6 p.m. (pacific time).
Love the collection! Like the pennants as pillows great idea.
I was thinking when you first posted the Valentine goodies were coming I wished you did "men" to go along with the girls. Guess my wish came true. Will be watching tonight :)

Funny how you get so sentimental for your state. I do the same for Kansas. For me the sunflowers on the old table cloths works too. The state hankies are some of my favorite. For Christmas I made my Mom a great pillow with a Texas Hankie on it for her guest bedroom. Pennants are darling. Another great idea from the best of the best. We rooted on the ducks last night...what a great game!

I was rooting for the Ducks, too. (Love the uniforms!) There seemed to be quite a lot of support for Oregon out here - everybody loves the underdog. My chances of finding Oregon memorabilia for your collection are not very good, but I'll keep my eyes open!

Oh yeah, I have the vintage travel stuff! I have lots of glasses, etc. They didn't sell real well in my shop, but I LOVE them. I'll see if I have any Oregon stuff. zootsuitmama

I really like the maps you have. And making the pennants into pillows is a great idea. I, too, have an Oregon collection, since I lived there most of my life. Maybe I'll do a post on it. Annette

I'm still going through your delicious archive, but I must ask: Do you collect vintage Japanese pot metal pin trays + ashtrays? I adore them. I think my huge collection was stolen when I moved. Professional scalliwags!
