Estate Sale Friday - One Week Late

I hit an estate sale last Saturday that was awesome.  My week has been insane with a trip to Seattle and getting ready for Crafty Wonderland.  Therefore I am one week late with this post..but it is worth it!

I was #76 to get into this sale.  A horrible, horrible number that made me wait outside for about 35 minutes before I got to finally go into the house.  I hate, hate to wait when I know basket inside are getting filled with things I want.  I still did very, very, well tho.  This woman saved everything and was a crafter and Christmas gal. Take a looksie (I got so much there are two overall shots, instead of my usual one)

A whole box of old storks with pipe cleaner tie on attached!  I collect storks!

A strand of vintage glass garland, tinsel, old mercury glass picks, a kewpie, bump chenille and old cardboard florist vases.  Those are pipe cleaners hiding in the back...that I swore I would never buy again.

Another stork!  A whole coffee tin full of flower stamens and flower making parts.

Vintage deer, Cinderella's pumpkin carriage,some old bells and some easter chicks on pipe cleaner stems.

A huge box of corsage pins PLUS another shoebox full of more corsage pins in original cardboard boxes.

Old Christmas light surrounds.  I have never seen some of these shapes before and they will be great for crafting.

A bunch of thimbles and some teeny tiny men that are waving top hats.

My spun head magnet was on.

Velvet leaves, sparkly leaves and plastic mushrooms. A St. Patty's Day mug.

A whole flock of birds. The hot pink ones will be great for Valentine's Day crafting.

A crazy amount of old floral picks in original wrapping. I also found a whole bag of vintage chenille bees.

Frosted bells and tiny plastic swans.

A great supply of tiny fruit for my Carmen Miranda gals.

And last but not least a tower of 40 boxes of tiny vintage ornaments in original boxes.

What a great sale despite being #76. I can't imagine what it would have been if I had gotten in the door in the first wave...

Holiday Sale #4 - Crafty Wonderland

My last and biggest show of the holiday season is this weekend.  Saturday and Sunday from 11-6 at the Convention Center.  You can find more information here.  It is an awesome show and super fun to shop.  Come and say hello!

Collection Challenge #82 - Vintage Jingle Bells

I am sharing this collection because it makes me smile during this hectic holiday season...plus how many people do you know that collect jingle bells?  I like this collection primarily because of the graphics on the cardboard cards the bells come on.  The old stuff is just so cute and charming.

I display them in an old glass container all jumbled together.

I like them to be on the old cardboard cards. If they are loose they go here for crafting.

I like that jingle bells come in so many colors and sizes. I also like how nice and neat they look when wired on the cards.

I don't often find them in a box (and what a charming Santa).

I like the suggested uses on this card.  "For costumes, gift packages, ski suits, skating socks, jingle bracelets and decorations." Also note that the manufacturer was the GONG BELL company.

I find it interesting for being such a simple product that there were such a variety of them available.

I know that when I was a tiny kid my mom put jingle bells on my shoes so she could keep track of where I was...just like the package suggests. I called my mom to ask about this and she actually put the bells on my brother and sisters shoes as well.  That was three kids in the house (all under the age of 4) with bells on their shoes running around. I can't imagine that little jingle, jingle all day long!  I have the baby shoes with bells attached to prove it.

Laurelhurst...Show #3

I finished up my third show of the season today and it was a great day.  Thanks to my blogland readers who came by and said hello.

Here are some snippets of my space. It is in a charming old local school with great woodwork and stained glass windows in the cafeteria. As you can see I got to spread out a bit and also had a window sill behind my table to display on.

Only one lone party bird came home with me.

One more show to go. Crafty Wonderland will wind up my shows for 2011, and it is the granddaddy of all craft shows here in Portland.  Can't wait!

 

Holiday Sale #3

For my local friends, my next holiday sale is THIS Sunday, Dec.4th at Laurelhurst Elementary School. Hours are 9-4 and the address is

Estate Sale Friday...Doing The Monkey and The Frug

It has been a couple of months since I hit an estate sale. After a few weekends of craft shows, college visits with my daughter and lack of weekend sales, I was more than ready for a good sale. There were not many sales today and I only had a small window of time, but I did hit one that was decent.

A cute little pottery bunny, foil leaves and some pipe cleaners.

I have a soft spot for items created with pipe cleaners. This crazy native carrying a spear and wearing a pink skirt just had to come home with me.  It is marked Japan on the bottom.

My VERY FAVORITE PURCHASE of the morning came in this box. It made me absolutely giddy when I spotted it. GIDDDY!

The funny thing was that this sale advertised craft supplies.  As I was driving to the sale I was thinking how I would really love to find a good stash of spun heads or a good stash of the tiny metal reflectors that I use for crafts.

When I walked in the basement the box was the first thing I saw and his is what was inside.

These are at a few thousand tiny metal reflectors. I rarely find these at sales and I love, love to craft with them.  I have NEVER FOUND them in this quantity.  They come in stacks of about 100 and I found stacks and stacks.  I also have never found them in turquoise!  Was I a happy gal!

So my happy dance over the reflectors today definitely had some definite dance steps to it!

 

Wanted: The Kringle Gang

I recently rounded up the latest member of the Kringle Gang. He was found lurking in Amy's booth (Into Vintage) at the Plucky Maiden show last weekend.

This is Nick.

That makes three members of the Kringle Gang that have been apprehended.

This is Kris.

This is Clause.

I am sure there are other members of this gang that need to be rounded up.  Gang members are made of of wood or particle board and are disguised as Santa cutouts.  Most have been around for awhile and some of them have seen better days. Don't let their charm fool you...even if they give you that friendly wave.

This trio of the Kringle gang will spend the rest of their days at my house.  Their mischievous days are behind them.

I am always on the lookout for more...wanting to make the world a safer place by nabbing these fellows up and keeping a close eye on them during the holiday season.
