Sharing this collection today as I just found a fantastic new birdcage at Farm Chicks this weekend! You may think that collecting birdcages means that I have quite a few pet birds...that is not the case. I use them for display. I usually group collections together, but this is one that is scattered about my house and studio.
This is the one I got at Farm Chicks. I had never seen one like it before. It is plastic, a bit yellowed with age, and is complete with the sliding base insert, stands and feeding trays.
It has some great floral detail pressed into the plastic.
The bird cage will live in my living room on an empty bird cage stand that has been positioned in the corner forever, waiting for a cage.
I have this great tiny birdcage in a wonderful shade of chippy green. A tiny cotton bird perches on top year round.
This birdcage lives on a shelf above a kitchen door with some other like colored pottery.
This old Hendryx cage is wonderful. A chenille bird lives in this one.
In addition to the chenille bird this cage also houses a collection of bird supplies.
This cage lives on a upstairs landing.
I shared this birdcage the other day when I showed my pottery bird collection. This cage hangs in my bathroom.
This fun shaped cage is in a wonderful blue green color. It houses a collection of whimsical found pink birds.
This cage hangs in my studio.
This birdcage is about 3 foot tall and has no base. I spray painted it turquoise.
This rather mangled bird cage also got a coat of turquoise spray paint.
I display these two cages side by side on the top of a cabinet. The smaller cage sits on a box hidden by the prescription sign.
Cheerful chickadees are attached to the cages for some color.
I did not realize I had so many birdcages until I got the one this weekend and thought about how many I had. An fun collection, and easy care since they don't actually house live birds!
If you have an idea for a future collection challenge, leave me a comment and finish the sentence "Show me your collection of ____". I will see what tweet thing I can come up with!
Thanks for sharing your birdcage collection. I would have never though a person would collect them but you have made a really charming and whimsical display with these.

You just gave me the push I needed to finish the two birdcages hanging in our garage! I thought of them a couple days ago....Just have to figure out a color to paint them now.Love the birdcage you just got with all the pretty details on it. Fits well with your stand. Would love to find a stand for mine. Guess that'll be a hunt for me now!
Thanks for sharing and for all the inspirations :-)
Have a great day.

Love the one in the studio with the pink birds. I used to want real birds until the DIL got two and I found out what a mess they make. I would be perfectly happy with cages filled with "faux" birds!

That is one amazing plastic cage. Who knew they made those? I need to find some of those clips...they look great on the sprayed cage...I have one cage and two beautiful chalk ware cardinals in it...how do you dust without knocking things over? Smiles...Renee

as always....way cool!!! I love the ones where the birds "live outside the cage"!!
I kinda tripped over a new collection myself this weekend-do you have a soda pop bottle collection? I got some really old ones really cheap & thought, "wonder if Magpie Ethel has these"?

Looks like you're just waiting for the right (live) bird to come along and he'll be excited to dine on that vintage box of song food!
