I did the college drop off this weekend with my daughter Kate for her freshman year at Gonzaga. The weekend had me tearing up at the drop of a hat. An estate sale cheer me up was in order.
One sale, half price day on Sunday.
A great old tree shaped Christmas card holder with original box.
The dredges of Christmas that will be put to good crafting use.
Spun heads, a vintage soap container and baking molds.
A good assortment of empty Christmas boxes. This find definitely dried my tears.
Easter cut-out book dated 1936.
It had been cut, but there were still some darling images.
Love this cover of the paint book.
Awesome paper leis.
With Halloween just around the corner I was thrilled to find these large plastic frames. I have a perfect project for them.
I love this old book from Aladdin Homes, dated 1920. It basically is a catalog of house plans and costs to purchase the kit to build it.
Charming, charming houses with great color illustrations, floor plans and descriptions.
Who would not want to live in a house that is called the SUNSHINE? The price for this plan and lumber kit was $3,089.
A
jewelery box, a tiered tupperware vase and a plastic reindeer.
I left the sale with goodies in hand and a smile on my face. A good sale was just what I needed.
Happy Day.
Glad to see you found a good sale to brighten your day. I have been thinking of you every day this week. Kate is using her wings, learning to fly on her own. You have given her strong roots and a happy nest that she will always return to. Hope you have many more good days coming your way.

Now you'll see just what a great job you've done teaching Kate and she'll make you proud. That Easter cut out book is great. I love Holiday things and paper in general. I have read every post you've made and I don't believe you have done squeaky toys yet.

I've found that time spent junking ALWAYS cheers me up! Great finds, especially that Aladdin catalog. If you EVER find one for Sears Roebuck homes, I'd be VERY interested in taking that off of your hands!

I was wondering how it went, seeing your daughter off to college - hard for both of you, but time marches on and we can't keep them around forever, can we? (my turn for the send-off next year). Best of luck and continue to find great stuff!
Those cut-out books must have been the rage in the 1930's - I have one with a children's party theme - all sorts of goodies to punch out and assemble.

Thrift Therapy - I swear by it.
That little Sunshine house looks like the house on Daisy Cottage. http://deardaisycottage.typepad.com/daisy_cottage/
Those old boxes are just plain sweet!

Aren't you glad you have children that make you sad when they leave? That's a wonderful thing.
Great shopping for a Sunday.

You find the best stuff! Glad you were cheered. Here in the last couple weeks I've been emotional over my baby growing up. He's 14 but looks and acts 18! He's no longer a little boy. :(
