A loyal blog reader Mary, challenged me to show my collection of scarecrows. I dug out Halloween decorations this weekend and put all my scarecrows to the side for this post.
Most of my scarecrows are of the paper variety. This vintage pumpkin head scarecrow is an accordion dancer. He is about 12 inches long.
Another pumpkin head scarecrow. This fellow's crepe paper arms and legs definitely show some age and wear, but make him a bit more spooky!
I recently acquired this fellow at an estate sale.
I love how scared this scarecrow looks with the witch cackling in the background.
Pam, from Plucky Maidens gave me this fellow a couple of years ago. The honeycomb hay stack is the perfect touch.
Last but not least, my favorite scarecrow. A cotton head fellow! He is not marked but he is made of old pipe cleaner and crepe paper.
Am sure any of these scarecrows would do some scaring on Halloween. Thanks for the suggestion Mary.
If you have an idea for a future challenge, leave me a comment and finish the sentence, "Show me your collection of ___". You never know what I can scare up!
I find your collection to be super cute. I used to decorate all the windows on our enclosed porch with these cardboard decorations for each holiday when I was much younger. I always liked the bulletin boards the teachers made back then too to celebrate the holiday season. They don't do that anymore. No holidays in our schools here. Sheryl

Thank you, Laurie. You have some great scarecrows. I love the graphics of all of them. It is so interesting to see the ones from the past. Thanks for always sharing.

Love your collection. The only one I've seen and have is the honeycomb one. The crepe paper one does have a lot of character in him. Can't wait to see your house all decorated! Thanks for sharing :-)

Yep, the spun-head scarecrow is my favorite, too! I sometimes feel about scarecrows like I do about clowns ... some of them are just a little scary! (I guess with scarecrows, that's kind of the point!)

I don't think I've ever been scared by a scarecrow until I saw that second one. I bet he scared lots of crows, back in the day!
