I have been busy out in the studio crafting up some Valentine fun. I always try and mix some new things in each holiday...this year I put to use some vintage photos I found the other day.
Remember these? Dated 1937 from Ockley Green school here in Portland, Oregon.
I love old black and white photos. I really liked the unusual shape of these. I hand colored them and added a tiny vintage red heart. With a little more tweaking involving a vintage button and some mercury glass beads, this class of students became one of a kind Valentine ornaments.
I added phrases under each photo. The phrases came from a yearbook from 1937 and were part of a student's listing in the book, as a saying they used.
These ornaments along with some of the usual spun heads, some decorated Valentine dolls and a few other pink and red goodies will be headed to Etsy on TUESDAY, January 22nd at 5:30 p.m. (pacific time).
I do love a holiday.
cute! I wondered what you were going to do with those! I've been in my craft room working on valentines today too.

Ha! Those are awesome Laurie! What did you use to colour them with? Do Copics work on photos? I have never tried that. I love how creative you are; you can look at an old yearbook photo and make an ornament out of it... wonderful!
