Janie challenged me to show my collection of college pennants. I don't have college pennants but I do have state and vacation spot pennants.
My daughter Kate came home from college this year requesting vintage Oregon stuff to decorate her room next year at college. I just happened to have a good stash of old Oregon items.
The Sea Lion Caves, Oregon, Depoe Bay, Seaside (our summer vacation spot), Crater Lake and Timberline Lodge. I have been to each of these locations.
The sea lion caves feature HAPPY sea lions.
Quite a few years ago when decorating Ben's room, I made some Oregon themed pennants into pillows. I added a felt backing and cut a felt fringe.
Seaside (a newer version), Prehistoric Gardens and Multnomah Falls.
I also have quite a few random pennants beyond Oregon.
Texas will have a spot in my heart after hitting the Round Top show this past spring.
Tom and I honeymooned in Victoria, B.C. and visited the Butchart Gardens. I have been there probably 3 or 4 times..gorgeous.
Have visited Washington many times and also lived in various places in the state.
I can tell by the graphics these are older pennants. This is the only one that I could find an actual date on, 1975.
Love San Francisco, especially the Alameda Flea Market held each month!
This pennant from my hometown of Portland, Oregon is small. It has two slits on one side so a stick could be inserted and it could be waved. Portland, Oregon..the city of roses.
With summer vacations upon us maybe a pennant would be a good souvenir? I am purging some of this collection this weekend in my garage sale. Keeping the Oregon ones for Kate, but time to let go of some of the rest.
If you have an idea for a future collection challenge, please leave me a comment and finish the sentence, "Show me your collection of _____." Something new every week!
I love the Milwaukee, WI one! FYI - I'm sending those tip boards your way today :)

Hanna and I have family in Wisconsin so that Milwaukee pennant really caught my eye! Can you believe that I am a born and raised Oregonian and I have never been to Crater Lake. Great....one more thing to add to the bucket list. Wonder how the junkin' is there?
Have a great day!

Love those pennants! You are such a cool mom to have! Esp when it comes to decorating or ideas. I'm sure you have a "stash" of anything someone would need for vintage decorating.
Those pillows are darling! Sure wish we were closer to you.....I have visions of what you're garage sale is going to have!!
Thanks for sharing :-)

You've got me thinking! We're traveling through 10 states in 14 days starting Saturday. I wonder how many souvenir pennants we can find?

I love that Kate is into vintage too -- I bet her dorm room decor will inspire others! Have a great time at your yard sale -- SO sad to miss it.

Kate's room should be very fun with vintage decorating. My daughter Rachel is not a fan of vintage yet but I am hoping it grows on her. She does love purple so I collecting purple vintage dishes for her now. I love the hunt for treasure. Sheryl

What a fun collection! Of course, I love the Canadian ones ;)
Isn't it great when we can share our interests with our daughters? Mine loves anything vintage; so we have both helped each other get all kinds of treasures.
I so wish I lived closer so I could attend your garage sale!

Hi,
My youngest daughter is into vintage too and her name is Kate also.I would buy your Washington and some Oregon ones if you had any extra.I have bought from you on ESTY before.

Ohhhh!!! I would love to see Kate's dorm room. I bet it will be wonderful! So many of the popular stores now are showing vintage style items. Why not just get the real thing? At a way cheaper cost too! I bet she has your great sense of taste.

Another neat collection! I have a small collection of vintage pennants too. The color they bring to a room is so much fun! And the old graphics and lettering are cool too.
Good luck with your sale!

I love the way you made them in to pillows for Ben. That is a great idea. Will you be doing the same with the Oregon ones for Kate?
I never knew you have lived in Washington. Where abouts? I, too have lived several places in Washington and was born there.

Love it! When I was a kid, we spent the summer weekends taking trips around the southwest. I would buy pennants like the ones from Texas and Oklahoma at the Stuckey's (remember those?) that we would stop at. I amassed quite a collection--all the southwest states and many southern states as well. I don't know whatever happened to them.
