Amy and I hit all the small towns as we drove up and down I-5 to the Alameda Flea Market outside San Francisco. One town that we hit we stumbled upon an old printing company. It had some items dragged out on the sidewalk for sale. We went in. It was like a time warp of a shop with old inventory from the 1950s and 60s STILL ON THE SHELVES and FOR SALE.
It was dusty but we spent an hour and a half searching for stuff.
Some old menu blanks to be printed up for menus with your information..with a cute little chef graphic. A bunch of old receipt pads intended for restaurant use. They are yellowed with age from sitting on the shelf so long.
Old rolls of tickets, old map tacks (one lone box on the shelf for sale), penny roll wrappers and some old tags.
Old signs.
A bunch of the old menu protectors where the menu slides in the plastic sleeve on the other side.
And last but not least. Our last find in this shop. Amy and I split them. We bought FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT SIGNS. We were only going to buy some of them and then we realized that this was one of those times we would kick ourselves later if we did not buy them all.
Amy and I were on a giddy sign high when we left.
I wish I had one of these in my house.
I think I could use more room for my vintage finds. Crazy, crazy purchase and what a trip!
p.s. Signs will eventually be listed on Etsy.
I can't wait to see what you do with those signs. I can see a few of them that I'd like to put on my eldest daughter's bedroom door!

You and Cinderella both seem to have a fairy godmother looking out for you. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Terrific find.

So fun seeing you and Amy yesterday. We are headed out to Stars later this morning. Can't ever do enough treasure hunting!

What a great score! I'm so glad I can at least live vicariously through you Hee Hee Hee Hee. So much fun to read your posts on your fun road trip. I think you've found your soul mate to junk with :-) Especially since you two decided to split the signs and whatever other goodies you find! Love those signs! I'm slowly learning to listen to my inner self when it comes to passing things up now. Believe me.....there were plenty of times I wanted to kick myself LOL.
PS I'm still looking for the shoe!!
Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous experience. It is so rare here esp. to wander into a place that hasn't moved forward in time. Love the signs. Looking forward to your listings. How much for one of each of them?

Did you even know you needed 428 signs? I'll bet not. Just like I didn't know I needed 48 skeins of white embroidery thread ($2 at Plucky's yesterday)! Oh, what fun we have.
Janet
P.S. LOVE the hat. Thanks.

OH my gosh! Those signs are awesome! I love the rolls of old tickets, the receipts and everything really. I like old things that you can use now. LMK if you want to sell some of those signs. I'd love some for my BS. But, if you want to hold them for Etsy, that's cool too.

Good finds girls
I like the pads where you take your food order, I used them on my first job as a waitress in a white waitress dress and white waitress shoes LOL in the 1960's

Love the signs! I have two - one that says "Furnished Room" and another that says "Room For Rent" that I bought at a flea market a while back. I put them out with my summer decorations.

Those signs are FABULOUS! I love them, and I can only imagine how much fun it was to gather them and the other stuff up at this printing company place! I though it was funny that together, the two signs on the lower right-hand side of your one photo read "gentlemen for sale". Ha - don't we sometimes wish?
