With Halloween just over a week away I figured it was timely to do a challenge on vintage trick or treat bags. I only have one actual trick or treat bag.
Love the smiling moon.
However, I do have a small collection of treat bags. These were intended to fill up with goodies and hand out to trick or treaters.
The flip side of this one has such a funny message. I like that it has a spot to write who gave out the treat.
This looks like a scary house to go ring the bell at!
These are reproduction bags, but they live in the china hutch with the vintage ones.
The condition is not ideal on this pair, but the graphics are charming...a cowboy pumpkin boy!
The flip side of these bags have tongue twisters and riddles to entertain. Again a line for indicating who the bag is from.
A small collection today. I just don't find them often in estate sale land. There are lots listed on Ebay and Etsy, so I know there are more to hunt for!
If you have an idea for a collection challenge leave me a comment and finish the sentence "Show me your collection of _____". A new challenge treat each week!
There are some of those bags at Glory Days and I have almost bought them a couple of times but can't figure out a good way to display them. I'm going to have to go back and look at your decorations again to see how you did it.
Love the cowboy ones the best. I'm always drawn to vintage western themed things...

Another fun collection. I'm thinking of framing a few my treat bags. They are hard to find, but I'm always on the hunt. The graphics are so much fun!

Treat bags are one of my favorite things to find! I once got a bag at Savers that had 6 different designs...oh, the glory days of the past! The bag with the trick or treaters at the haunted house is my favorite from my childhood. I still have a handful of that style! Thanks for sharing this fun collection. =D

Those bags bring back great memories!
I wanted to tell you, yesterday my friend and I got together to work on Christmas items to give as gifts and sell and I was thinking of you! We are making snowmen out of salt and pepper shakers and snowglobe ornies with lots of small xmas and your collections came to mind. I was wishing I had your xmas overflow to pick from! Hugs! karen...

Cute collection! I actually have a few small treat bags myself. I've never found any Trick or Treat bags. I need to figure out how to use them in my decorating schemes. Thought maybe I could hang them somewhere with some small clothespins maybe? Got an excuse to go check out your Halloween posts again :-)
Thanks for sharing!

Wow! This collection just zapped me right back in time - standing on a dining room chair filling goodie bags with my grandmother!

Oh I just love these little bags! I grew up in a small town back in the 1980's, and there was one elderly couple down the street who would make up these little bags for Halloween. They were one of our favorite treats. Another couple gave each child a silver dollar! (That's something not seen too much anymore I suppose.) Thanks for bringing back such a wonderful memory! Love your blog!
