Melissa from Andromeda Vintage challenged me to show my collection of bow ties. I have a stash of them in my studio that have been collected primarily for crafting. I let some of my fancier ones go this year in a craft project, but still have some fun ones left.
Interesting the variety of shapes with a simple bow tie.
I think this bow tie is wisely named...the Butterfly Bow.
Here is my favorite holiday bow tie. If I was a fellow, I would be sporting this all during December.
The crafting project that I used these bow ties for most recently? The little stands I made with old collars and vintage bow ties.
Thanks for the challenge Melissa. If you have an idea for a future collection challenge leave me a comment and finish the sentence "Show me your collection of ____."
P.S. The newspaper ads in the background are all from my stash of vintage newspaper from Lawrence, Kansas dated 1936. I bought a library archive of newspaper when in Kansas a few years ago. A great resource for old advertising and such.
Gorgeous collection. I love that little snowman, too!

Hah! I LOVE the red Season's Greetings one too! How awesome would it be to wear? I would wear it too - yes, I have a collection of ties (bow and long) that I used to wear a lot at work! I would always get compliments on them... who says ties are just for guys anyway?

Hi Laurie, I've been reading your blog a long time, since before I started my own, in fact. I started a weekly link-up a few weeks ago called We Call It Olde, and wanted to invite you. I don't know whether you ever do link-ups (parties) but if you do, any of your posts would be ideal, its for vintage/ antiques / history. I love how you photographed the bow ties on the newspaper backgrounds, makes for great photos. Take care -Dawn @ www.wecallitjunkin.com

I kind of thought my challenge might stump you...what was I thinking. :-)
They're all adorable, but I think that little red Christmas one would make a really cute hair accessory. Oooo, or clip it to a pearl necklace for a holiday party. Cute!

How funny that even though I was loving the vintage bowties, I was really intrigued by the newspaper in the background. Then you go and mention where you got it. Thanks for reading my mind!
I think you should wear those cute bowties. Everyday. Add your silly vintage glasses and make it your signature style. What do you think?
