I hit two sales today. I was number 50 to get into the one after signing up on the list yesterday afternoon. Luckily I got in with the first wave of customers.
This was my loot from both sales.
There was a second sale very near to the first so I hit that one too. I was going through boxes of stuff and there was another woman doing the same thing. We small talked a bit and at one point she turned to me and said it was so nice to MEET SOMEONE NICE at an estate sale since usually everyone was so cutthroat and unpleasant. Between that comment and my finds it was a good day.
A pair of nursery cutouts. I especially like the bunny which will go into my Easter display. They are about 2 feet tall.
I lucked out and found a box of vintage Halloween.
I rummaged through a box of Easter and found these goodies. I especially like the bunny munching the carrot candle.
It is a bonus when you flip the candle over and find the Gurley label. The two little satin ball chicks are marked Japan and have the origianl price of 19 cents.
Thanksgiving turkey candles to add to my giant flock that comes out for the holiday.
A Gurley Pumpkin candle that I don't have and a tiny deer.
My daughter Kate decorated her dorm room in vintage Oregon. I got this Keep Oregon Green ashtray to collect coins or other smalls. She is not to use it for smoking!
Assorted ornaments, ribbon spools, an elf and a gold foiled Easter egg. I also grabbed one grab bag of holiday that looked like it had potential inside.
I bought the bag because of this Santa head. I didn't open the bag, but thought the head looked old.
My suspicions were correct when I got to my car and looked at it closer. It opens up and is an old candy container. It is marked made in West Germany inside. The beard is made of feathers.
The grab bag also had a box of tiny ornaments and this figural light bulb. I think it is the cat and the fiddle. There was a bunch of random junk in the bag, but at least it had some gems too!
An old plastic sewing box with compartments inside. The kitty design on the lid was cute. I need to clean it up some.
Funtime Crossword book, dated 1955.
The puzzles with their themes and graphics are from that era.
It was good to be back in estate sale land today and find some goodies. It was really a NICE day.
All is well again in estate sale land. That Santa candy container is fantastic and that cat light bulb is pretty amazing too. I'm always envious of all your vintage Halloween finds. I especially love that honeycomb cat. I'm definitely living through you right now. Estate sales just aren't happening now that winter has hit. Happy Friday, indeed!

You can use the pink elephant for New Years Eve. Great finds!

I love the big gold egg and that fun Santa candy container. I've never seen anything like that before - and I guess you haven't either.
There is a sewing box like that one in my flea market and I look at it every time I go in. It's really sweet.
Glad you got to do some digging today!

It is such fun to see what treasures you come home with. I just rarely see these old things. Vintage Halloween! Wow!

Well it looks like you got your wish for a vintage estate sale fix this weekend!
Love those nursery cutouts!! Can't believe how big those are. So it looks like you got something for every season or holiday too almost. You Lucky Duck :-)
What a score with that Santa head too. Always nice to talk to someone else who is the same huh? Better than getting the evil eye or knocked over by people
So much fun.
Have a wonderful weekend :-)

The cat light is very interesting. I wonder if it originally was part of a set maybe of other animals playing instruments?...funny how just one bulb survived. It always amazes me the "little things" that get saved & not thrown away & makes me wonder the "little things" that are just trinkets to me now, 50 yrs from now someone will be fighting over in an estate sale. The equivalent to these old dime store purchases would be I guess our dollar store things...funny to think that someone would fight over that!
Have a great weekend! (((Hugs)))

wow LOOKS like you have had another fabulous haul in vintage goodness-see it is around every corner for you!! Your karma must be fabulous!
LOVE your comment about the nice woman shopping along with you (as opposed to against)- always pleasant to meet a kindred spirit ;-)

Such a good mix of finds!! That bunny with the carrot is really cute. The Santa head is so unusual and fun. Is Kate still looking for vintage Oregon for her room??

Love all your finds! I especially love the ornaments! I went to the best estate sale of my life this weekend! A garage and storage room FULL of vintage Christmas and house full of all other kinds of vintage and mostly all reasonably priced! A great estate sale is rare in winter, so I really enjoyed this one!

Great finds! Was it the one on 148th near Sandy Blvd? That one looked interesting. My day has been busy with family but I'm hoping to run by there tomorrow to see if there is anything left.

My biggest weakness is holiday decor and you never disappoint! The honeycomb cat is awesome! I had a little chuckle to myself...the elf (with the ornaments & Santa head) reminds me of Link! I have two gamer kids! So, you may not know what I'm talking about, but I enjoyed this post, as I always do!

You made a huge holiday haul! Wow!!! The vintage Halloween decor is unbelievable! With all the estate sale-ing I do, I have never found a Gurley candle of any kind. Did they not sell them Down South??? Glad you made a friend and some great finds!!!

What the heck? Did the estate sale gods have you in mind when that sale was created? Jeez, lucky girl!! I'm still waiting for my first big sale of the year. Now that you have gotten yours, maybe its my turn?
Btw...Hanna & I picked our weekend to go to Alameda this year. We are going to go in August. We want to make a girls weekend out of it so before we go, I'm going to pick your brain about good stops to make! Oh the pressure I put on you...
Have a great week!

Sales, and good sales at that! It might be the fact that it was 4 below zero here this morning that prevents that kind of thing here. I will live vicariously through you!
