Friday. 2 sales. #5 to get into a 10 a.m. sale (after waiting over an hour to get a number) 2nd sale I hit about an hour and a half after it opened.
Saturday. 2 sales. #2 to get into a 9 a.m. sale (actually was #6, but four people didn't show, so I moved up in line). DOOZY of a sale!!! 2nd sale I hit about two hours after opening and was glad I had chosen to hit the other sale first. I found things at all the sales, but the first sale Saturday was a goldmine of vintage. I actually ended up hitting it three times!
I am still a bit overwhelmed with the the crazy amount of stuff that I found. Little commentary today...lots of photos.
A crazy amount of vintage playing/game cards. This only scratches that surface.
I was thrilled to find these little ribbon flag pin-backs. The silver sequin trim is made in France and is new to me for crafting!
I got lucky with vintage Halloween. Love the cardboard jack-o-lantern.
I also scored on big rolls of vintage wrapping paper.
Pipe cleaners and 2 scrapbooks full of old greeting cards.
Quite a few squares of wallpaper from a vintage wallpaper book.
My spun head magnet was on.
I scored big the other day on old shelf edging and got lucky again this weekend.
One of the silliest but most charming things I bought was this vintage child's chicken costume. It is layers of crepe paper and includes the little cone beak.
I can only imagine some patient mother sewing this costume for their child. The base is an old jacket or such with the original clothing tag.
Vintage decals.
This old silver and blue box is actually once held perfume. I thought it would make a great Fourth of July base for display.
Major score on the wrapping paper rolls! I've been looking on EBay at them lately. Sooo expensive. What a fun batch this time!

Sales like that just don't exist here on Long Island! I have never seen so much in one place! Congratulations!

That is the best way to start the new week with your blog and all this amazing eye candy. Love the vintage Halloween, and you are now the official queen of shelf paper. Those counting kittens book are so sweet. That fish wallpaper rocks. Love it all! Feeling spoiled seeing sneak peeks on Instagram.

Yowza! Looks like an antique booth's worth of stuff! No sales like that around me either. Makes my little hauls look horribly lame!

Over the top with the chicken costume!! You really scored a load of goodies this weekend. I heard there were 40 something estate sales. How do you choose which ones to go see?
Posted by: Annette | July 21, 2014 at 07:30 AM
Oh wow, this post makes me so happy for you! Major score! I wish I could find a sale like the ones you find. Estate sales in my area are rare and if I find one, it's all 80's junk.

A Bambi shoe box? I'll bet that made you smile!
Are you going to use the chicken suit and your little boy mannequin head together?

Holy Smokes! What a haul - I had to scroll back up and go through the pictures a second time to gasp over everything again! I love the Old Maid cards, too - I think we all remember playing the game as kids! I was out of town this weekend - should have stayed home and hung out wherever you were!

I am in awe, especially over the wallpaper and the chicken costume!!! Mind boggling! I'd be so tempted to recreate those pers on Spoonflower.

Papers, not pers!

So many little things! I had to go over the photos three times to make sure I didn't miss anything. Love the Bambi shoebox. Were there shoes in it? And all those playing cards! Fun to sort, huh? If you ever decide to part with that German Shepherd tin, will you let me know? As you know from IG, I am a bit obsessed with those dogs :-)
I'm assuming you will be dressing up as a chicken for Halloween this year?

Wowzers! A huge haul indeed! A crepe paper costume - hope it didn't rain (or snow) on Halloween!
Love the Count the Kittens item and the Mountie!
And vintage Halloween is always a treat...

I giggled through every lovely pic of this post! I've seen lots of your other hauls, thinking "Oh my gosh! Estate sales in Oregon! Is that where all the grannies go to retire??" But this post, with the mermaids and the Meyercord, has me convinced that the Magpie Ethel has voodoo powers!!! :D
