I picked up a celluloid doll last weekend. I am a sucker for these little dolls with their darling faces. I marvel that they survive as they are made of such thin material and seem so fragile.
Here is my latest find.
When I picked her up I thought I only had a couple of similar figures at home. Well I was wrong and I have a small handful of them. Most of them live in my curiosity cabinet.
Estate sale found and I love the little bunny ears.
This style of celluloid figure often have the arms strung on with string. The arms are often missing as is the case with this Kewpie.
Her lack of arms is made up by the set of tiny wings on the back of her neck.
This funny little fellow with the leaf was estate sale found.
His little bum on the back of the leaf is a great little detail.
Flapper girl with her original costume. She flapped a bit too much and her arms are long gone. Great little shoe detail.
This little angel did not fare to well with time. Dented and with a crack in her head, she is an example of how fragile these figures are.
This sweet doll came with this crepe paper outfit.
I found this doll this past summer at a garage sale I happened to stop at. She was about the only vintage thing at the sale and with those big crazy eyes she begged me to save her from the table of random household stuff scattered around her. I had to oblige.
One of those collections that snuck up on me....collections seem to do that with me!
If you have an idea for a future collection challenge, leave me a comment and finish the sentence "Show me your collection of ____". These collections just keep coming.
Such a sweet little collection. It's amazing how well they survived considering how fragile they are. You find the neatest things.

Ha! They're so cute :-)
Silly girl...thinking you only had a couple of something! I'm amazed at how many different kinds there are of these celluloid dolls.
Need more coffee now. Going to scroll through your blog!
Have a wonderful day.

I see these dolls quite a bit. There was a lady at the flea market on Sunday that had a bunch but so far, I have been able to resist. But put a cute one in front of me with bunny ears and I'd be a goner!

A doll hospital made be able to restring your dolls loose arms or even may have older parts if that is something that would interest you.

Sweet dolls. I love their eyes -- they are all so expressive (except the little leaf boy).

I have several of these stuck in my little odd item cabinet too. They are so fragile! That little leaf guy is super cute - especially from the backside!
Have you shared your ruler collection?

The big eyed one is a little unnerving, but everyone else is quite cute. I love that you have them in all conditions. Sometimes it's the things that are a little battered that have the most character!
