Another holiday themed challenge this week. With all my shows and Christmas crafting I am always on the hunt for snow. Preferably mica snow. You can buy it in some crafting stores, and I do buy it there, but occasionally I will find a box of the vintage stuff. The vintage stuff comes in a box and has waaaayyy cuter graphics than any modern snow.
Cute box after cute box.
Here are the directions for its use.
I also have a couple of boxes of plastic snow. Light, fluffy and clean.
Love, love the graphics on these boxes. If you have an idea for a future collection challenge leave me a comment and finish the sentence "Show me your collection of ____" A new collection every week.
P.S. I have heard that this vintage mica snow often contains asbestos. I don't craft with it. I bought a box once at a flea market and got the biggest lecture from the woman selling it. I've done some googling. I'll stick to the modern stuff.
You are right the graphics on the boxes are so wonderful. I even enjoyed looking at the snowflakes in each shot. Great eye candy for a miserable rainy day in Wisconsin.

The graphics are pretty darn amazing. I had no idea vintage mica snow might pose a health risk. Gee Whiz.

Whoa, now that I see the fireproof on the boxes it makes sense, but who knew? I figured most of that stuff was actual mica.

Happy to see a post from you this morning especially one with graphics! Like the touch from your plastic snowflakes too. I had a whole bunch of clear ones that I unfortunately sold a few years ago. I had no clue about vintage mica containing asbestos. Glad to know and thanks for the info. Are you feeling a sigh of relief with your shows behind you now?
Can't believe that Christmas is only 9 days away now!
Have a wonderful day :-)

Great boxes with super graphics. Asbestos?? Yikes. Good to know. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Can't believe I didn't make it to any of your shows this year.

Those older graphics are the best. I have three bags of mica snow that I bought at the Salvation Army years ago. They were $3.00 each and I thought and thought before I sprung for all of them. But, I really adore them, so it was worth the money.

The first box in your post was made in Utah in the good ol' days. Now the boxes say Bethany Lowe. I'm glad I have at least one box of the original. Thanks for sharing...those boxes are wonderful!

Hanna bought me my first box of this last year from Goodwill. I only have two boxes so not a collection.....yet! Nice to know that you can get Mica snow from the craft stores. Maddie is itching to make a snow globe.
Happy Holidays!

I have some Tim Holtz stickers that are the same design as a couple of your boxes. Yours are really pretty!
