It was an unusual sale in estate sale land this weekend. The sale was advertised and was the estate of husband and wife collectors of celluloid toys, dexterity puzzles, candy containers, and tools. The photos looked wonderful. The sale was family run and you emailed to get yourself on the list. I emailed on Tuesday and was emailed back with #127!
The email said the house was large and there were multiple cashiers. I decided I would get there and line up with rest of the crowd at 9. Lucky for me THERE WERE TONS OF NO-SHOWS. I think people were put off by the high numbers they were emailed. I ended up being about 50 back in line. I got in really quickly after the doors opened.
There were lots of dealers that grabbed some really great stuff. I still managed to find quite a bit that made me really happy. Vintage Christmas is always exciting.
There were lots of candy containers. I was the first person at two big cardboard boxes of them. I had fun digging and was rewarded with Easter. There were also lots of Halloween candy containers in those boxes.
My best find in the boxes of candy containers was this Valentine Rosen cowboy. It was $2 and was a score.
I got all the nodders in this post on the last day at half price.
I usually don't gravitate towards clowns..but these chubby cheeks got me.
I got a couple of new wedding couples. The chalkware couple on the right is dated 1941. Did you notice that cute little container of mending tape too?
The original box for this white Christmas tree is battered, but the tree looks complete and came with the original directions and tags.
I don't come across turtle food often.
A pair of walker ducks and some Dennison turkey stickers. My other favorite find was this celluloid cowboy. He had no arms, but he is wearing a PINK cowboy hat.
I could NOT RESIST HIS CUTE FACE. He will live in my cabinet of curiosities.
I display vintage sailors with my Fourth of July stuff and could not resist this pair. Their life ring is named the "S.S. Shore leave"!
These are all various celluloid scraps. I will use them for crafting. I also got a fun old dexterity puzzle with a swan image.
Ribbon spools for craftng. Resin flowers and a towel bar in the original box. The towel bar is a clamp on style which I had not seen before.
It was a good weekend in estate sale land. I hit three sales total, but the majority of my finds came from one sale. I hit that first sale on the third day when things went half price (and was #6 to get in the door that time).
That sweet little no-arm cowboy is sweet. I always had a thing for the boys with blushed cheeks. :) I have been handling junk for days - sold a lot, donated a lot, packed it away for another day and I AM DONE with junk. Except that I really, really need a big old junky digger sale to go dig in. I think I am NUTS. But, in a good way! :)

What a fun sale. You got some great containers. At least three will go well with your future water edge home.

I just love seeing what treasures get rescued. That cowboy with the pink hat is so sweet. Those are some amazing candy containers. I'm especially smitten with the Halloween ones. I never see nodders. Good for you! Can't wait to see your 4th of July decor! Those sailors are perfect.

I found a celluloid cowboy at the flea market once and bought it simply because it was cheap, cute, and a cowboy. I saw the same one at an antique mall for about 10 times what I paid. I never realized how collectible and expensive these toys are. That couple had quite the collection!

What fun finds--that cute little cowboy in the pink hat looks like Eddie Haskel's little baby brother :). The sailors are adorable--loving seeing your estate sale land treasures and thanks for sharing!

Somehow being #50 just isn't that daunting when you know how to find the buried treasures! Who wouldn't want Long life Turtle Food!?!?!
