Halloween Snippet Four

One last Halloween snippet to share of the dining room.

My hutch is home to a collection of pumpkins, treat bags and holiday candles. I remove some of my china and glassware and display my treat bags and candles towards the front of the shelves.

I have a good assortment of pumpkins and enjoy the variety of expressions.

A tiny collection of Halloween costumes.

Last but not least an array of danglers or dancers.
Thanks for coming along on the little house tour and Happy Halloween!  We are supposed to have a really rainy trick or treat night.  I usually get at least a couple hundred trick or treaters so we will see if the rain dampens the numbers. Be safe and enjoy the night!

Halloween Snippet Three

Today we have witches and sweets. I really like this witch collection.

I have lots of candy boxes, and those in this display all have Halloween graphics. (The Oh Henry bars are not vintage...the box looked super empty without something so I added them years ago...do not try and eat them)

Ive got another little display with old crepe paper poppers, nut cups and assorted Halloween games.

One more snippet to go tomorrow.  Halloween is almost here!

Halloween Snippet Two

A little more of the Halloween house tour today.  Snippet two.

I have a tiny collection of plastic devil heads and they got displayed on my coffee table this year.

My candy corn is out with my favorite tiny tin cup.  Found in estate sale land with a witch design around it.

Owls inhabit my mantle.

I have a fun window display of all my smalls.  It is hard to take photos of into the light.

Henry Bunn decided to be a pirate for Halloween.

More snippets to come.  I think I see some witches in the future...

Collection Challenge #275- Vintage Halloween Accouterments

I'm in a Halloween mood this week so am sharing my collection of Halloween costume accessories.  I did a challenge on my Halloween costumes on post #129.  My accouterment collection needs their 15 minutes of fame.

Vintage wig in box.  Please note it is sanitized. Evidently that was an important thing to include on the box.

I love that I can find stuff in the original packaging...it wouldn't be the same to find just some plastic mustaches...the packaging makes it. Vintage mustaches. (ignore the glare)

Old make up packages. Blue Brute is new to me.

Vampire nails.

Last but not least, my favorite...horror teeth.  Note the packaging says "you can even scare yourself"!!!

Halloween Novelties.  I was surprised when I looked on Ebay to see some of the prices that are being asked for this type of thing.

Halloween. Snippet One

Another year of Halloween at my house and time to share.  I mixed some things up from previous years.  Some things just work so well in the spot that I have them that I keep them there.  It is fun to pull out new estate sale finds from the year to add to the fun.

This year I did my front window with blow molds. Honeycomb decorations hung from the ceiling.

Here is a better look at it from inside during the day.

I did my front porch with my old umbrellas again.  This year I added spiders and spider webs as well. There are orange lights that I turn on at night.

I like this little skeleton display. The mirror is vintage and I pull it out for the holiday.

One side of this display holds my little collection of old Halloween make-up and props.

I have a black cat corner as well.  

I really like this little collection of the plastic black cats. None of them were intended as Halloween decorations, but they certainly work well for the holiday.

Below the cats I have a hodgepodge of vintage candy boxes. Most of these were picked up in estate sale land.  I always look to see the type of box things are gathered in at an estate sale. Sometimes I am rewarded with a super box.

Snippet One.  I have more to share as the week moves along and we get closer to Halloween.  

Estate Sale Friday.

Meager sales this weekend, but I hit one today.  It was a 9 a.m opening and family run. I got there about half and hour early and they had just opened up...I love that!

The woman had gone to an assisted living place and a fellow had bought the house and was going to flip it.  He bought the house with most of the contents.  He had thrown quite a bit away evidently (groan...you know he threw good stuff away $$) but there was still good stuff left to find.

The table cloth is edged with pompom fringe. I also found a whole box of old black and white photos. It pains me to see that these did not go to family.  I see old photos so often at estate sales.

I also found a photo album with more photos.

The album has a great leather cover with an embossed design.

A pair of vintage eyeglasses with a super design on the frame. I can't wear them as the RX is crazy and I can't see a thing with them on.

The woman was an artist and had lots of her portraits and landscapes.  She was actually quite talented.
Her portrait of Abe Lincoln will live with my Fourth of July/patriotic items.

Holiday luck was with me and I found a ton of smaller Christmas ornaments.  I use so many of this size for my crafting, so I was pretty happy with this lot.
In and out of the sale in less than half and hour.  Got my vintage fix for the day and then off to the studio.  Happy Day!

Collection Challenge #274 - Vintage Spiral Foil Garlands

Really oddball niche collection today.  Vintage spiral garlands or concertina garlands. They comes in an assorted variety of colors and sizes. They are shiny and bring out the magpie in me. The large pink and red one hangs in my studio year round.

They are basically a little foil garland that stretches out.  They come folded into a tiny flat circle and the spiral magically emerges when stretched out.

Most of these have been found separately.  I love the assortment I have managed to collect.

This style includes directions to make rosettes or spirette.

I found these three garlands the other day at the estate sale in St. Helens.  They have the original price tags from Olds & King attached.  They were 29 cents a garland.

Bonus that they came with the original box. They pulled out to 9 foot.

These are a favorite.  Awesome colors and the original cellophane sleeve.  4 packs, each in a different color.

A very narrow category today in collection challenge world.  How many more styles are there out there to hunt down? I feel pretty lucky with what I have.

Estate Sale Friday. Limiting Myself.

I am so insanely busy crafting for my holiday shows that I need to force myself to stop and take breaka.  My break today was ONE estate sale.  I got there early, waited in line and was rewarded.  

The NOEL is a rug.  I also got two unopened rolls of old wrapping paper in green and pink metallic.

I bought two plastic bins of craft supplies. I could tell there was quite a bit that would go to the Goodwill pile.  I gambled on the contents.

I bought this great metal green silverware tray.  It holds what I salvaged from the craft bins.

These sweet greeting cards were in the crafting boxes as well. There are about 20 of the one design. I also found reflectors.

There were lots of boxes of old unused greeting cards. I am excited to sit down and sort through them. I love the boxes they came in too.

There were some sweet old unused postcards.

I also got a good stash of old wrapping paper.  Always a winner in my world.

The estate sale had tons of stuff saved in the original packaging.  I have a bunch of vintage gardening stuff and liked the twist ties.  The Halloween candle has some wear, but I don't have that one.
Love the clothespins in the original packaging as well. I picked up quite a few of those folding rulers.  The tiny deer is a candle.
A couple of holiday candleholders, two whisk brooms and a sweet little holiday box.

Not a bad estate sale.  Then I went home to craft.

 

Collection Challenge #273 - Vintage Parcel Tags, Holiday

I have some rather quirky collections. One of those are vintage parcel tags intended to send holiday packages.  Basically, they are a TO/FROM tags to address a package, but with darling graphics.  I never set out to collect these, but somehow I did.  

All of those that I have are Christmas, except this one.  I'm actually not sure if this one is associated with a holiday or just cute.

These are all fairly simple parcel tags. 

Many of those that I have are still in the original packaging and have not been opened.
A simple snowy scene. 
I love the tiny details.  The typefaces they used are as charming as the graphics.

Darling holiday carolers.

Merry Christmas and holiday bells.

Of course there has to be Santa.
Same Santa one with a silver background and one with gold.
Flip side.  Funny they packaged them in 6 and 8 quantity. Note the prices.

A fun collection.  They would certainly add the right touch to a special holiday package.
