It felt so good to go to an estate sale today. SO GOOD. I like the winter months, but estate sales are few and far between. Todays sale mentioned 60 years accumulation and the photos online looked awesome. I texted on MONDAY morning to get on the list for the sale on Saturday. The bad thing about texting is you have no idea where your name will fall on the list. I ended up being #45 which wasn't so bad as they let 50 people in the door. There were over 200 people on the list...160 of those names came in the first day. The bad thing is EVERYONE was at the sale and there was lots of competition. I still ended up with some great things.
I got an old wood coat rack and a pelmet (which goes over a window). I was hoping the pelmet would fit a particular window in my house but sadly it does not.
The MERRY CHRISTMAS sign was in the basement and that was my best find of the day. My best find in a long time for that matter. It is awesome and it was only $2.50
It has big old flaky mica glitter sprinkled all over the sign and a nice coat of shellac to protect it.
When I go in a house for an estate sale it is often a gamble which direction to take. Today I headed upstairs first. So glad I did as I found these awesome old Valentine candy boxes.
The sale had some great putz houses in the photos, but those were long gone when I got in the door. I did find a bit of vintage Christmas though. The elf has a masking tape leg repair, but still is as jolly as ever.
I was happy to find another Fuller Brush letter opener to add to my collection. The turquoise dish will live in my bathroom and the tiny, tiny salt and pepper shakers were just too darling to let pass by. I also always grab flower frogs when I find them at a decent price. Handiest invention ever.My friend Kate, came up and handed me this New Year hat and asked me if it was something I was interested in. Yep! Look at the sweet little cutout.
I only hit the one sale today. There were others out there, but none looked worth my time. Was sure nice to hit a decent one though. Happy Day!
Awesome that you got a fix in. That's a great Christmas sign too. Valentine boxes to boot even 😄 There were none here to go to plus you can't put your name down for any. I agree on the frogs! I grab them too when they're cheap.
Hope you have a great weekend 💕

That Christmas sign definitely needed a new home at your house. I'm glad it was still available and such a steal at that price! Lots of great stuff. Glad you got your fix. Our estate sales are practical nonexistent in the winter. I'm going through withdrawal!

Sometimes I use the hashtag #madeforme on IG. That sign deserves that hashtag for you! It's so perfect!
Still no good sales down here but I'm okay with that right now. It's been so cold and rainy I don't think I could even bring myself to go to one!

I love the candy boxes! I keep thinking I will find some but so far no luck. I wish I still had mine from when I was little. I remember plastic roses and lace. That sign is YOU, that is for sure. I would have bought it too. That pelmet (new word of the day for me) loks like it could just be an interesting shelf. Or turned upside down and filled with kitschy flowers or ????.

After somewhat of a long hiatus it must have been nice to get back to Estate Sale Land. That sign is amazing! Glad you showed a close up so you could see all that mica. What a steal. The word of the day is pelmet. I never knew. I am sure you will find a great purpose for it. Lots of fun holiday finds too! Pretty awesome as always.

I had a really good fix at an auction on Saturday. Hoping for the warmer weather to start sinking in this month so that sales will pick back up!

Glad you got a chance to get out and do something fun for you. I think the Valentine boxes are great. But the New Year's floats my boat.
