We have a stove at the beach house. It is fine, although I planned on replacing it down the road. It is vintage and white and it works.
The other day Tom and I were walking the prom in Seaside (a long sidewalk that runs parallel to the ocean for a mile and a half) and out of the corner of my eye I saw a couple of delivery guys wrestling a stove OUT of a house. I only caught a glimpse of the stove before they disappeared around the back of the house...I saw vintage and turquoise. I had to investigate. I had to sprint down a path through a wooded lot to catch the delivery guys at the rear of the house. This is what I saw when I came around back.
It was gorgeous and looked brand new. I asked the two delivery guys what was going to happen to the stove. They were going to scrap it. Evidently they had removed it from the house as the house was a vacation rental and the stove did not meet code for that. They had no idea if the stove worked or not. Tom came around the back of the house and looked at the stove with me. The guys said I could HAVE it if I wanted. Tom asked if they could deliver it to our beach house (about 6 blocks away). He handed them $20 and they were more than happy to do just that. They put it in our driveway.
We hauled it into our garage and on our next trip to the beach house we brought down a hand truck to haul it in the house and put it into place. We plugged it in AND IT WORKED. All but one burner (which I hope to replace).
When you open the oven it looks like it has never been used.
It does show some wear on the dials, but it is still pretty darn pretty.
The beach house is my happy place. The timing with this stove was meant to be.
It is a happy stove in my happy house.
Such a happy and lucky find for you! Of course it's like new - who the heck cooks on vacation?????

OK. Now you are just really showing off.
Will you throw some karma my way for nesting Cinderella Pyrex bowls in either pink or turquoise when I walk my dog?

Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Electric burners are pretty standard so hopefully you will be able to replace - but then, who really wants to cook when you are at the beach...
