Plucky Maidens Holiday Junk Fest 2016

It is always fun to see photos of my booth and use it as a diary for shows to come.  I collect and craft all year and it is exciting to actually see everything come together in one happy holiday booth.  Picture heavy.  Here we go.

I had a 10 x 20 booth right near the entrance to the show.  It was a great spot.  Look to the left.

There are always gussied up deer.

I love this big tall display suitcase.  It is full of shelves for all my littles and simple to transport from show to show.

I sold lots and lots of tiny ornament boxes.

I sold a trio of snowman figures.  Papa Snowman, Mama Snowman and Baby.  They were darling.
It was a good show and thank you to everyone who came and shopped.

Plucky Maidens Eugene

I did the Plucky Maidens Junk Fest this past Saturday.  It was in Eugene which is about two hours south of here.  I drove down Friday (and hit that great estate sale on the way) and spent the night.  Saturday morning I had a great time putting my booth together.  That is one of my favorite parts about doing a show.

The show was in a grange hall and hence the oddball art on the wall.  I actually thought it added a fun element to my booth.  My booth was jammed packed with both vintage and crafted items. 

The show went from noon to 6 and we had a good crowd.  Lots of shoppers.  

It was fun to put together some displays like this for the 4th of July.  I got a whole bunch of aluminum tree branches the other day and they really work well to add some sparkle for that holiday.

The wood bowling pins are tiny bowling trophies. Tom added a slit in the top of each so they could be used to display a photo or a paper item. They are pretty cool.

I had fun meeting lots of people who follow me on IG as well as those who read my blog.  I really enjoy when people stop by to say hello.

Plucky Maidens Bound

I will be a vendor at the Plucky Maidens show this Saturday in Eugene.  I have a lots of vintage finds that I am ready to part with.  Kate's room has been filling up and it is time to clear it out!

I will be loading up my Dad's truck and right now I have two big piles in my living and dining room ready to be loaded.

I sure enjoy the hunt at estate sales, but I can't keep it all. I am ready to let go of some of my finds.  If you are local, the show is in Eugene on Saturday (12-6). More info here.  Come say hello!

P.S. I am super proud of my friend Pam, who runs this show. She just got a bit more press in the latest issue of Flea Market Decor...Plucky Maidens was mentioned as one of the top 25 fleas to hit in the USA.  High five to Pam!

Plucky Maidens Holiday Junkfest

This past weekend I did the Plucky Maidens Holiday Junkfest.  It was the second time I have done the holiday event and this year was awesome. I had my biggest space I have ever had at 20 x 10 and had no problem filling it up.  The show ran Friday night and Saturday.  Here is my spot...heavy on photos today.

The two Santa posters on the right sold right away which I was sorta sad about as I liked them there as part of the wall.  (oh well, I did want them to sell at some point)

The nice thing about this sale is that I can combine vintage with things I make. Most of the sales I do are purely craft shows and strict on only selling things that you make. It is fun to mix up my crafted stuff with vintage.

Such a fun show.  I love meeting customers and seeing friends.  Really a terrific event.

Plucky Pickings

Today was one of those days when I went behind the scenes at an vintage show. My friend Pam put me to work. I spent the morning chalking out spaces and hanging up decorations for the Plucky Maidens Junk Fest here in Portland.  It was really fun to see the show come together and the anticipation that comes with an event like this.

This year the show was held at Oaks Amusement Park, which is an old fashioned park here in town.  It is on the Willamette River and has been around since 1905.  I have gone there since I was a kid. It was a fun venue for the Plucky Show.

It was a glorious day weather wise and vendors had lots of goodies to choose from. I did not leave empty handed.

The turquoise display shelf is awesome and angled to hold books or such.

Everything else I bought fit in this nifty little cooler.  Note the fun plastic flowers peeking out the top...such a jaunty load I carried as I shopped!

The nautical cooler was just too fun to pass up. Duffel cooler..how awesome is that? It is insulated to keep stuff cool.

This silly pocket hankie came home with me.  I love give-aways from businesses.

The rest of my finds from the day all seem to have a underwater theme to them.

Plucky Maidens...Flowers Swinging From the Trees

I did a post last week that showed the 100 crepe paper flowers that I had made and were ready to go to the Plucky Maidens Show.

The event was at McMenamins Edgefield.  It is a lovely outdoor space with trees that are scattered and provide great shade. I tied two blooms together with fishing line and draped them over a branch.

They really looked fun hanging from the trees. 

It was a great show.

I bought this ice cream sign late in the day. It fit perfectly in my dining room.

The best part about the crepe paper flowers is that they did not wilt in the 102 temperature that day.  I wilted, but the flowers were perky as ever.

When I say I wilted in the 102 heat that is not exaggeration.  Amy from Into Vintage took a photo of me in the evening as I cut the flowers down from the trees. When she sent me the photo she included this title "It Was So Hot Her Face Melted".

I told you I don't do well in heat.

Plucky Maidens Recap and Celebrity Sighting

Last Thursday I did the Plucky Maidens show.  My friend Pam from One Gal's Trash and her friend Maria put on the show...it was their maiden event and they rocked it. It was a wonderful day.

Here was our booth.  There were three of us that combined our treasures and it came together pretty well.  It was long and skinny and full of fun! (from the aprons all the way to that green awning)

It was an outdoor event and I  hung my honeycomb garland from the trees.

It was a task to combine the goodies from three different people into one booth, but we did a good job.

It was a glorious summer day, a band played in the evening and we had shoppers all day long.  At one point in the booth I heard a voice that sounded oh, so familiar.  A voice I recognized from TELEVISION!

It was Emily Henderson!  Emily won the 2010 Season of Design Star and currently has a show called Secrets of a Stylist (both HGTV shows).

A photo as proof!  Amy (my neighbor at the show) from Into Vintage had left a comment on Emily's blog telling her about the show and Emily actually came!  Amy and I were thrilled to meet her.  My daughter Kate was also quite impressed that I had spotted her as she is a big fan too.

What a day..looking forward to the next Plucky Maiden show Nov 19th.  If you live in the Portland area you need to mark your calendar...I can't guarantee a celebrity sighting, but I can guarantee some good junking.
